Since during my academic time, I have built a very strong nerves and interest in the development of e-Commerce industry throughout the world. It never be surprise for me to continue persue my MBA in e-Business, and finally have the company doing the thing Im most passionate about – providing a complete e-Commerce platform for the retailers and entrepreneurs to jumstart their e-Retailing businesses.
At age 30, I quit from BPO industry where I been involved for the past 10 years, and jumpstart the e-Commerce company in Malaysia, a country where e-Commerce is easily to link to something about cheating, fraud transaction, brilliant online consumers and merchants setting up false deal to fool each others. It never take too long for us to learn that to build an e-Commerce for Malaysia market only is like betting on old T-10 Ford machine while the invention right now is all about energy saving, hybric, or even electric car. We quickly turn our steering and reformat our brain and come up with a new set of solution for S.E.Asia e-Commerce industry.
The result? We learn alot during this journey, and all are very precious for us to build a Alibaba alike 102 years old company in future. While entering into Hong Kong and Philippines market, it gave us more advance insight in two different scenario about e-Commerce in two countries, Hong Kong – very China-linked location where e-Commerce are well plan ahead in Asia region; and Philippines – a country where consider one of the low Internet penetration country in S.E.Asia, with about 24mil internet users in totoal, and it is very USA centric culture over in Philippines. Two different cultures, two set of big gap within HK & PH, and very interesting internet buying culture in both HK & PH has forced us to localize not only our operation, but also our design, concept and surfing pattern.
All these experiences in past 6 months have come to a moment where I have to ask myself a WHAT IF question – what if we can have a unify B2C e-Commerce platform where retail manufacturer able to have a set of common product introduction and promotion communication channel to broadcast to the consumer through direct B2C model? What if this solution is build on top of Semantic e-Commerce platform where we allow the Internet to learn the products information like human read it, understand it and analyze it?
In this chapter, I will put all my focus into semantic e-Commerce, revealing the potential of this giant B2C marketplace, if it is open freely to any manufacturer to introduce their product into this marketplace and it can learn product knowledge like human being, what will the future e-Commerce and online shopping experience will be?
I believe all of these are just begining, while the ICT are keep improving, we have more reason to make this happen!
